- Designed for and largely catering to clinicians, this
site provides a more hard-core medical perspective on HIV/AIDS. Even so, there is
fairly extensive treatment news and information, as well as an online bookstore with
selected reviews. Some patient information is available from this site.

- Presents federally approved information on HIV/AIDS treatment and
prevention guidelines, a comprehensive database of HIV/AIDS clinical trials, vaccines, and
information about approved and experimental HIV/AIDS drugs. The site's Education and
Resource Center contains downloadable resources specially designed for patients and the
general public, researchers, health care providers, and students.
AIDS Knowledge Base
A standard reference source in print, the Web
version provides search capabilities making it easier to pull together diverse sections on
the same topic. Almost the entire publication is available at this site, including
charts, figures and other graphics. Clinical aspects of the virus and the disease
are covered thoroughly with additional sections on legal issues and prevention and
education.

Treatment Data Network
Provides extensive coverage of clinical
trials, medication and treatments for both AIDS and opportunistic infections. This
site also includes information on alternative treatments, and an extensive list of links
to other clinical trial sites throughout the United States and Canada. Some
information is also available in Spanish.

Covers the basics of HIV/AIDS, prevention and
treatment information providing answers to many questions about the virus, transmission,
disease progression, and treatment options. Additional sections include access to
conference information, local, state and federal advocacy organizations, as well as useful
information on quality of life issues such as nutrition, workplace issues, legal issues,
art and spirituality.

Project HIV/AIDS Resource Database
- A collaborative project of Community Resource Exchange (CRE),
Asian American Federation, Hispanic Federation and the Federation of Protestant Welfare
Agencies, this database provides access to prevention resources in the New York Area,
primarily aimed at communities of color.

CDC
National Prevention Information Network (NPIN)
Formerly called the CDC National AIDS
Clearinghouse. A variety of materials are covered on this site, most of which are
produced by the CDC and/or other health-related government agencies. NPIN also
provides access to a number of AIDS-related database covering such topics as education,
health care, social services, news, and funding. Here, too, are online versions of
various sets of published CD guidelines. Links to other sire cover a wide variety of
topics, and, overall, is fairly extensive. Some information is available in Spanish.

Center for AIDS Prevention
Studies
Also known as CAPS, the California-based
Center has made a great deal of information about its program available via the Internet.
Materials include descriptions, photos, evaluation results, and some full
curricula, as well as a "Prevention Toolbox" with additional information on
developing and evaluating prevention programs. The list of links available from this
site is quite extensive, as is the information made available in Spanish.

HIV/AIDS Surveillance Data Base
Information on the AIDS pandemic and on the
HIV infection in population groups in developing countries from the U.S. Bureau of the
Census. Information is gathered from a variety of sources and then compiled into
tabular format for ease of use. The database can be downloaded, or tables and maps
can be viewed on screen. Links to related data sources are also provided.

- A collaborative effort between the New York State Department of
Health AIDS Institute and the
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases providing
access to clinical guidelines, best practices, quality improvement, and clinical education

From the University of California at San
Francisco, this site has information on everything from adolescents to
xenotransplantation. A very complete source for basic information, news, and recent
research updates. A Spanish language section has also been included.

Medication Guide
Provides information such as medication
schedules, pathology, drug interactions, and patient drug information pamphlets. The
site comes to us from two Canadian pharmacists, and is supported by Glaxo-Wellcome.
Much of the interaction information on the site is fairly technical, with the exception of
the information for patients, which provides more of a balance for clinicians and
consumers.

Hopkins AIDS Service
Major topics covered by this site include
epidemiology, treatment, managed care and prevention with information for both patients
and professionals. Additional resources include educational opportunities, clinical
trial information, conferences and events, continuing medical education, and an
interactive question and answer forum for patients. Selected full-text publications
are available from the "Publications" section.

Prepared by the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention, this site is a good source for statistics for the United States, with
additional links to statistical sources for the rest of the world. This site also
has data on disease trends, and fact sheets for health issues that have been covered in
the MMWR.

Testing Resources
- Sponsored by the CDC, this site provides basic information about
HIV & AIDS as well as lists of testing sites for all 50 States. Also available
are resources for persons who have test positive, and counseling and referral
services.

National AIDS Treatment Information Project
(NATIP)
NATIP provides educational materials for both
HIV-infected persons and their caregivers. Topics are divided into four major areas:
Clinical Manifestations, Opportunistic Diseases, Therapeutics, and Miscellaneous (for
example CD4 count, viral load testing, health care maintenance). Over half of their
publications are also available in Spanish.

HIV/AIDS Information
Another good source for the basic facts on HIV
and AIDS, this site also includes clinical trial and treatment information from the U.S.
Public Health Service. Tutorials for searching the National Library of Medicine's
AIDS databases are available through this site, as is access to NLM fact sheets, manuals
and bibliographies.

- Hosted by Bailey House, the TA Clearinghouse website is a service
for New York City community-based AIDS organizations, and people living with HIV/AIDS.
It includes a Guide to TA and searchable databases of technical assistance
providers, other TA and HIV-related resources, funding alerts for HIV/AIDS service
organizations, and a job bank.

- Joint United Nations Programme on AIDS
A good source of information and statistics on
the International HIV/AIDS situation, in addition to some rather bare-bones information
about the organization itself. The "Information" and "Documents"
sections are extremely valuable resources with almost all of the documents available
full-text. There is also a graphics library containing Power Point presentations.
Selected publications are available in languages other than English.
