AIDS.ORG (from Immunet)
Designed for and largely catering to clinicians, this site provides a more hard-core medical perspective on HIV/AIDS.  Even so, there is fairly extensive treatment news and information, as well as an online bookstore with selected reviews.  Some patient information is available from this site.

AIDSinfo
Presents federally approved information on HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention guidelines, a comprehensive database of HIV/AIDS clinical trials, vaccines, and information about approved and experimental HIV/AIDS drugs.  The site's Education and Resource Center contains downloadable resources specially designed for patients and the general public, researchers, health care providers, and students.

AIDS Knowledge Base
A standard reference source in print, the Web version provides search capabilities making it easier to pull together diverse sections on the same topic.  Almost the entire publication is available at this site, including charts, figures and other graphics.  Clinical aspects of the virus and the disease are covered thoroughly with additional sections on legal issues and prevention and education.

Also known as CAPS, the California-based Center has made a great deal of information about its program available via the Internet.   Materials include descriptions, photos, evaluation results, and some full curricula, as well as a "Prevention Toolbox" with additional information on developing and evaluating prevention programs.  The list of links available from this site is quite extensive, as is the information made available in Spanish.

Information on the AIDS pandemic and on the HIV infection in population groups in developing countries from the U.S. Bureau of the Census.   Information is gathered from a variety of sources and then compiled into tabular format for ease of use.  The database can be downloaded, or tables and maps can be viewed on screen.  Links to related data sources are also provided.

HIV Medication Guide
Provides information such as medication schedules, pathology, drug interactions, and patient drug information pamphlets.  The site comes to us from two Canadian pharmacists, and is supported by Glaxo-Wellcome.  Much of the interaction information on the site is fairly technical, with the exception of the information for patients, which provides more of a balance for clinicians and consumers.

Major topics covered by this site include epidemiology, treatment, managed care and prevention with information for both patients and professionals.  Additional resources include educational opportunities, clinical trial information, conferences and events, continuing medical education, and an interactive question and answer forum for patients.  Selected full-text publications are available from the "Publications" section.
