What services are NOT provided by the HIV/AIDS Information Outreach Project?

The HIV/AIDS Information Outreach Project is a service for AIDS-related, community-based organizations. To be eligible to participate in the Outreach Project an organization must:

• deal specifically with HIV/AIDS in the scope of its services; and
• have not-for-profit status.

Currently, services are only available to organizations in the New York Metropolitan Area.

Organizations can register with the Outreach Project in a number of ways:

Unfortunately, not everyone is eligible for participation in the HIV/AIDS Information Outreach Project. If your organization does not meet the two eligibility criteria, or is outside of the New York Metropolitan Area, the New York Academy of Medicine Library has other options for your organization to benefit from the use of its resources.

• If you are a for-profit organization, please see the information on the Library's Corporate Subscribers Program.
• If you are a not-for-profit organization, BUT are not primarily AIDS-related, see the information on the Library's Corporate Subscribers Program. (Please note that the fee for not-for-profits is only $600/year.)
• If your organization is located in East Harlem, BUT is not AIDS-related, please see the information on the Library's East Harlem Information Outreach Project.
  

 

Individuals seeking information regarding HIV/AIDS should visit, or contact the New York Academy of Medicine Library. The Library is open to the general public without charge, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.

Directions to Library

A reference librarian is available to assist individuals with research and information needs. Telephone reference service to verify Library holdings, provide brief factual information, definitions, and/or physician information is available by calling (212) 822-7315. Members of the general public are, however, subject to charges for Library services above and beyond basic reference and research consultation.

Library materials do not circulate outside of the building. Photocopy services are available on-site for $0.25/page.

The HIV/AIDS Information Outreach Project does not provide the following:

• legal advice or services
• help with immigration or visa status
• funding for research or other projects even if they are AIDS-related
• physician referrals
• treatment consultation or other direct medical services to individuals
