AEGIS
Bills itself as the "largest AIDS/HIV knowledgebase in the world."  Coverage is heavily news oriented, but extensive information is also provided for other areas such as law and health.   HIV/AIDS-related publications available via the Internet are also well represented.
 
AIDS.ORG
Designed for and largely catering to clinicians, this site provides a more hard-core medical perspective on HIV/AIDS.  Even so, there is fairly extensive treatment news and information, as well as an online bookstore with selected reviews.  Some patient information is available from this site.
AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts - Online HIV Health Library
Founded in 1983, AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts is a not-for-profit, community-based health organization whose mission is to stop the HIV/AIDS epidemic by preventing new infections and optimizing the health of those already infected.   The Online HIV Health Library includes links to hundreds of searchable articles, along with information organized by broad topic.  You can also access the library en Español.
AIDSinfo
Presents federally approved information on HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention guidelines, a comprehensive database of HIV/AIDS clinical trials, vaccines, and information about approved and experimental HIV/AIDS drugs.  The site's Education and Resource Center contains downloadable resources specially designed for patients and the general public, researchers, health care providers, and students.
AIDSinfonet.org Fact Sheets
The New Mexico AIDS InfoNet is a project of the New Mexico AIDS Education and Training Center in the Infectious Diseases Division of the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. The InfoNet was originally designed to make information on HIV/AIDS services and treatments easily accessible in both English and Spanish for residents of New Mexico. It has become an international resource for information on HIV/AIDS.  The site provides one page fact sheets written in non-technical language at the 8th or 9th grade reading level.  All fact sheets are also available en Español.
AIDS Knowledge Base
A standard reference source in print, the Web version provides search capabilities making it easier to pull together diverse sections on the same topic.  Almost the entire publication is available at this site, including charts, figures and other graphics.  Clinical aspects of the virus and the disease are covered thoroughly with additional sections on legal issues and prevention and education.
 
AIDS Treatment Data Network
Provides extensive coverage of clinical trials, medication and treatments for both AIDS and opportunistic infections.  This site also includes information on alternative treatments, and an extensive list of links to other clinical trial sites throughout the United States and Canada.  Some information is also available en Español.
 
The Body
Covers the basics of HIV/AIDS, prevention and treatment information providing answers to many questions about the virus, transmission, disease progression, and treatment options.  Additional sections include access to conference information, local, state and federal advocacy organizations, as well as useful information on quality of life issues such as nutrition, workplace issues, legal issues, art and spirituality.
 
Capacity Project HIV/AIDS Resource Database
A collaborative project of Community Resource Exchange (CRE), Asian American Federation, Hispanic Federation and the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies, this database provides access to prevention resources in the New York Area, primarily aimed at communities of color.
 
CDC National Prevention Information Network (NPIN)
Formerly called the CDC National AIDS Clearinghouse.   A variety of materials are covered on this site, most of which are produced by the CDC and/or other health-related government agencies.  NPIN also provides access to a number of AIDS-related database covering such topics as education, health care, social services, news, and funding.  Here, too, are online versions of various sets of published CD guidelines.  Links to other sire cover a wide variety of topics, and, overall, is fairly extensive.  Some information is available en Español.
 
Center for AIDS Prevention Studies
Also known as CAPS, the California-based Center has made a great deal of information about its program available via the Internet.   Materials include descriptions, photos, evaluation results, and some full curricula, as well as a "Prevention Toolbox" with additional information on developing and evaluating prevention programs.  The list of links available from this site is quite extensive, as is the information made available en Español.
Center for Special Studies, New York-Presbyterial Hospital
The Center for Special Studies is a designated AIDS health care facility.  They have created several documentary videos available, including "Don't Shut Me Out:  HIV+ Parents Struggling with Disclosure."
Coming into View:  Women, Families & AIDS -- Photographs by Mary Berridge
Mary Berridge interviewed mothers with AIDS and their children and photographed them.  This site is an archived gallery of several of her photographs.

A collection of government, scientific and technical, academic, reference, cultural and community resources.
 
HIV/AIDS Surveillance Data Base
Information on the AIDS pandemic and on the HIV infection in population groups in developing countries from the U.S. Bureau of the Census.   Information is gathered from a variety of sources and then compiled into tabular format for ease of use.  The database can be downloaded, or tables and maps can be viewed on screen.  Links to related data sources are also provided.
 
HIV Clinical Resource
A collaborative effort between the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute and the
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases providing access to clinical guidelines, best practices, quality improvement, and clinical education for HIV/AIDS service providers.
 
HIV Insite
From the University of California at San Francisco, this site has information on everything from adolescents to xenotransplantation.  A very complete source for basic information, news, and recent research updates.  Information is also available en Español.
 
HIV Medication Guide
Provides information such as medication schedules, pathology, drug interactions, and patient drug information pamphlets.  The site comes to us from two Canadian pharmacists, and is supported by a number of major pharmaceutical companies.  Much of the interaction information on the site is fairly technical, with the exception of the information for patients, which provides more of a balance for clinicians and consumers.
Ineternational Association of Physicians in AIDS Care
An organization of health professionals, it provides a view of AIDS from a global perspective.  The association's monthly newsletter, IAPAC Monthly,  is available full-text online and includes articles on patient care, policy issues, and other AIDS-related information.  They also make a number "HIV Care Tools" available with publications geared toward both the physician and the patient.

Johns Hopkins AIDS Service
Major topics covered by this site include epidemiology, treatment, managed care and prevention with information for both patients and professionals.  Additional resources include educational opportunities, clinical trial information, conferences and events, continuing medical education, and an interactive question and answer forum for patients.  Selected full-text publications are available from the "Publications" section.
 
KaiserNetwork.org Daily HIV/AIDS Report
The Daily HIV/AIDS Report provides daily summaries of HIV/AIDS-related  news stories with links to the original articles.  E-mail alerting service is avaiable.
Medem Medical Library:  HIV/AIDS
Medem's Medical Library is a collaboration between leading medical societies and targeted to patients.  Their HIV/AIDS information includes information on testing, treatment, prevention, women's issues, opportunistic infections, research journals, and much more.  Medem provides a complexity index, indicating which of four levels each bit of information is geared towards:  introductory health info, general health info, advanced resources, professional/research.
MedlinePlus: AIDS
The National Library of Medicine's MedlinePlus is a great consumer health resource.  It includes extensive information from the National Institutes of Health and other trusted sources on over 650 diseases and conditions and includes lists of hospitals and physicians, a medical encyclopedia, a medical dictionary, prescription and non-prescription drug information, and more.  MedlinePlus has interactive tutorials on a huge variety of topics.  MedlinePlus is also available en Español.
Medscape HIV/AIDS Homepage
Medscape offers specialists, primary care physicians, and other health professionals integrated medical information and education tools.  Includes details about CME, conference coverage, patient education, and resource listings in the section called "library."  The site requires a one-time FREE registration.
Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report
Prepared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this site is a good source for statistics for the United States, with additional links to statistical sources for the rest of the world.  This site also has data on disease trends, and fact sheets for health issues that have been covered in the MMWR.
 
National HIV Testing Resources
Sponsored by the CDC, this site provides basic information about HIV & AIDS as well as lists of testing sites for all 50 States.  Also available are resources for persons who have test positive, and  counseling and referral services.
 
National AIDS Treatment Advocacy Project (NATAP)
NATAP is a New York State non-profit corporation with a mission to educate individuals about HIV and Hepatitis treatments and to advocate on the behalf of all people living with HIV/AIDS and HCV.  The site includes regular news updates.
New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene: HIV/AIDS Information
Includes several regular HIV surveillance reports, a fact sheet, links to provider information and testing sites.
New York State Department of Health - AIDS/HIV in New York State
HIV/AIDS statistics and information for New York State, including data for metropolitan areas.  Also included is information on HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, with regional phone numbers for information and referrals.
 
NOAH - New York Online Access to Health -- AIDS
Collection of links to consumer health Internet resources compiled by librarians.  NOAH also provides information en Español.
 
NSW Health - HIV/AIDS
A collaborative health information initiative from New South Wales, Australia, this site provides basic HIV/AIDS information in a number of different languages including Asian and Middle Eastern languages.
 
PubMed
A service of the National Library of Medicine, PubMed includes over 14 million citations for biomedical articles back to the 1950's.  NLM provides a comprehensive tutorial on how to use the database.
 
Specialized Information Services - HIV/AIDS Information
Another good source for the basic facts on HIV and AIDS, this site also includes clinical trial and treatment information from the U.S. Public Health Service.  Tutorials for searching the National Library of Medicine's AIDS databases are available through this site, as is access to NLM fact sheets, manuals and bibliographies.
Substance Abuse Treatment Locator
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) provides this on-line resource for locating drug and alcohol abuse treatment programs. The Substance Abuse Treatment Facility Locator lists:  Private and public facilities that are licensed, certified, or otherwise approved for inclusion by their State substance abuse agency AND treatment facilities administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Indian Health Service and the Department of Defense.
TA Clearinghouse
Hosted by Bailey House, the TA Clearinghouse website is a service for New York City community-based AIDS organizations, and people living with HIV/AIDS.   It includes a Guide to Technical Assistance and searchable databases of technical assistance providers, other TA and HIV-related resources, funding alerts for HIV/AIDS service organizations, and a job bank.
 
UNAIDS - Joint United Nations Programme on AIDS
A good source of information and statistics on the International HIV/AIDS situation, in addition to some rather bare-bones information about the organization itself.  The "Information" and "Documents" sections are extremely valuable resources with almost all of the documents available full-text.  There is also a graphics library containing Power Point presentations.   Selected publications are available in languages other than English.
USAID Health: HIV/AIDS
This site is especially useful for international organzations.  Includes statistics on the global AIDS pandemic, along with resources on treatment, prevention, care and support, monitoring, and research.  USAID also has a monthly e-newsletter detailing its HIV/AIDS activities around the world.  Use the menu under HIV/AIDS on the right side of the page to navigate.
Virtual Web Health Clinic
A unique resource providing basic AIDS/HIV information in English, Urdu and  Arabic, with plans to include other local and regional languages and dialects.
